Nexus of time and Space
Once a frontier world with a bright future, Ceti-Alpha V has fallen on hard times since the Collapse.
A desert planet with livable temperate areas and a wide equatorial uninhabitable zone. Due to a lack of orbital tilt there is very mild seasonal changes. Dust storms are still a large problem and can shut down air travel for days.
While the system has a Relay and a Jump Beacon, both are seldom working. The relay is only used for outgoing vessels anymore and the Beacon is turned on only when scheduled ships are expected. In either case the systems are less than reliable.
Ceti-Alpha V’s major export was mineral. With major mining operations scattered over the planetary surface. Several resorts took advantage of the strong sun and slightly longer day night cycle (26.5 hours) and built domed retreats. Most of the mines and retreats were abandoned after the Collapse.
Two major cities are still functional, Silica City in the northern hemisphere and Tungsten City in the southern. The Space port is outside of Silica City. Tungsten City is also called the Green city as it houses a majority of the planets greenhouses and farms.
Major imports are water, mining equipment, and munitions.
Exports are minerals of several kinds with silica and Tungsten being the two leading.
The deserts support multiple kinds of wildlife. The most outstanding are the Sand Dogs. These pack/tribal creature show stone age problem solving skills but are highly aggressive and violent to anything that is not a Sand Dog. While omnivorous, they prefer meat. Pre-collapse research teams were studying them till the Blood Pass incident, A group of 18 researchers were attacked and killed by a large pack of Sand Dogs. Since then local government has restricted the research of these creatures and un-officially sanctioned hunting of them.
